Creeping is a slow method of progression.

2. Mathematics. a series of numbers in which there is always the same relation between each quantity and the one succeeding it. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 are in arithmetical progression. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 are in geometric progression.
3. the apparent or actual motion of a planet from west to east.
4. Music. a) the act of passing from one tone to another in melody, or from one chord to another in harmony. b) = sequence. (Cf.sequence)
